DISC profiles
What is DISCp4?
DISC stands for Dominant, Influential, Stable, Conscientious. The DISCp4 model assesses people's profiles according to these four components.
DISCp4 profiles are usually represented on a color wheel, whose quarters are made up of the four components. Each component has its own characteristics, and two adjacent segments share a certain number of characteristics. For example, the Dominant (D) and Influential (I) profiles generally correspond to extroverts.
Once you know your own profile and that of your contacts, you can communicate with them more effectively. For example, a person with a Dominant (D) profile, who is generally energetic, will understand the need to speak calmly when addressing a person with a Stable (S) profile.
How is the DISCp4 color wheel composed?
The wheel is divided into four quarters by the horizontal task-person axis and the vertical extrovert-introvert axis. It's like a compass.
To the north, we find the D and I profiles, corresponding to extroverts who easily master their environment. To the south, we find the S and C profiles, corresponding to introverts who are submissive to their environment.
To the west are the task-oriented D and C profiles. To the east, we find the I and S profiles, which are people-oriented.
Thus, the red D profile, in the northwest, is both extroverted and task-oriented. The yellow I profile, in the northeast, is both extroverted and people-oriented. The green S profile in the southeast is both introverted and people-oriented. Finally, the blue C profile, in the southwest, is both introverted and task-oriented.
What are the 4 DISC profiles?
The DISC model distinguishes 4 main character components: D for Dominant, I for Influential, S for Stable and C for Conscientious.
What are the DISC colors?
A simple color code distinguishes the main DISC components: Red for Dominant, Yellow for Influential, Green for Stable and Blue for Conscientious.
Red suggests fire, urgency and anger. Yellow suggests sunshine, warmth and joy. Green suggests calm, peace and nature. Finally, blue brings to mind water, cool temperatures and safety.
For more information, check out our blog post entitled "DISC profile colors, totems and icons".
Are the profiles in opposition?
Given how the DISC wheel is constructed, the D and S profiles are in opposition. The same applies to the I and C profiles, which are also diametrically opposed.
People's profiles are often made up of two main components. Although it's rare to have traits that are both red and green, and even rarer to have traits that are both yellow and blue, such profiles can exist, with all the subtleties that implies.
Is it normal to have a profile that straddles several components?
People's profiles always contain elements of the four components, to varying degrees. In general, there are one or two main components, often adjacent segments.
What is the O profile?
This profile, also (awkwardly) called "the chameleon", is made up of equal measures of all four DISC components. People with this profile are usually highly adaptable, with no clear-cut characteristics. With such people, no automated tool can replace the work of a coach, which will be all the more necessary to distinguish the nuances of their personality.
What are the differences between adapted and natural profiles?
The Adapted style represents the "Public Self", the facets of our personality that we present in response to our environment. Described by Carl Jung as "the mask", it means the aspects of ourselves that we show to others, reflecting our way of "appearing" and adapting to external situations.
The Natural style embodies the "Private Self", revealing the aspects of our behavior which are the most stable and least subject to variation. It corresponds to the aspects of our personality that we have unconsciously adopted, and which remain the least influenced by the expectations of those around us.
Put another way, the natural style highlights our "true self", the personality to which we instinctively return when we find it difficult to maintain the adapted face we have put on in the outside world.
It's perfectly normal for the adapted profile and the natural profile to differ. This is the sign that, consciously or unconsciously, rightly or wrongly, we feel the need to adapt (hence the name) to our environment, team, constraints, tasks etc. For example, an accountant will tend to be more conscientious than most, a salesperson will try to be more personable, a team leader will be more authoritarian and so on.
The example above represents the profiles of a team. We can see that some people have very similar adapted and natural profiles, while others adapt more noticeably.
For person n°4, there are almost no differences. They need to feel at ease in their work environment and show their true face,
Person n°1 and n°3 adapt slightly, making small adjustments.
Person n°2 displays a noticeable difference between their natural profile and their adapted profile, a sign that they are making an effort to adapt to their team, whether they are aware of this or not.
In this example, there's an overall shift of all four profiles to the left. This suggests that the team is under stress or in a productive phase, as they are concentrating on action.
If, however, profile disparities are too pronounced, this may indicate that the user has put too much thought into their test. In this case, it's best for them to let a little time pass and then repeat the test to confirm, trying to answer as quickly as possible.
Where can I find out more about DISCp4?
The best place to start is the documentation available on this site. There are plenty of pointers (podcasts, blogs, videos) to help you delve deeper into the subject.
A selection of publications is also available.
Is DISCp4 applicable to all sectors of activity?
Absolutely. DISCp4 is a universal tool designed to improve communication and interpersonal skills in any professional or personal context. Whether you're in technology, healthcare, education or even a start-up, DISCp4 can be customized to meet the specific needs of your sector and your corporate culture.
Do you have any sample DISC reports?
Several sample web reports and PDFs are available on our site. They can be used to identify test options. The PDF report is mainly used in coaching or training sessions as a resource for personal development.
Workbook reports enable you to situate team members' profiles on graphs which combine their results.
Is DISCp4 suitable for career development?
Absolutely. The DISCp4 is a valuable tool for career development, offering insights into behavioral preferences and communication styles that can be used to develop specific skills, improve team management, and plan careers.
How can I convince my managers of the usefulness of the DISCp4 test?
Highlight the tangible benefits of the DISCp4 test, such as improved internal communication, increased team efficiency and fewer conflicts. You can also point out the return on investment, such as improved employee retention and increased productivity.
What are the next steps after identifying my DISCp4 profile?
We recommend that you take part in a debriefing session with one of our partner coaches to explore your profile in depth and understand how it influences your interactions and communication strategies. We also offer customized workshops and training sessions to help you apply DISCp4 insights to your career development, team management and interpersonal communication.
How quickly will I see results after using DISCp4?
Results can be seen as soon as individuals and teams start applying DISCp4 insights to their day-to-day communication and collaboration. Although the benefits are often visible within a few weeks, the long-term impact on corporate culture and team performance will continue to grow over time.
What are gestures in the normal zone?
The normal zone can be defined as a rectangle running from the shoulders to the hips. Stable and Conscientious profiles rarely make gestures outside this rectangle. Influential profiles, on the other hand, frequently express themselves with their hands, especially to illustrate a given situation, and they are comfortable making gestures outside the normal zone.
What are the differences between the DISC and the MBTI?
The DISC (Dominant, Influential, Stable and Conscientious) and the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) are two relatively similar models. They have a lot in common, particularly in terms of their philosophy. In fact, both models have shared origins.
DISC profiles are divided into four components situated along two axes: task-person and extraversion-introversion. MBTI profiles, on the other hand, are situated along four axes: sensing-intuition, judging-perceiving, extraversion-introversion and thinking-feeling, resulting in 16 personality types. Positioning MBTI types is therefore more complex.
The rows and columns of an MBTI graph can be reorganized, while retaining their content, in order to group the types according to the components chosen to be highlighted. There are therefore several ways of representing the MBTI grid, which can be illustrated as a three-dimensional cube.
Although the MBTI seems more accurate at first glance, its assessment is more complex. DISCp4 profiles are simple to understand and use. That's why we have chosen to focus on them on this site.
What's the best DISC profile?
All profiles are good. There's no such thing as a good or bad DISC profile. Each person reacts, communicates and behaves according to the values they consider important. The challenge is to get to know ourselves better and communicate more effectively.
How the site works
Why take a DISC test?
Identifying a person's profile without being a DISC model specialist, or without observing the model in use over time, can be complex. The DISCp4 test is quick, lasting around twenty minutes, and accurate. It allows you to establish the profile of not only your team members, but also yourself, more reliably. And you'll probably get a few surprises that would be hard to detect otherwise.
Where can I enter the test access code given to me by my referee?
The form is available here.
Be careful not to confuse activation codes, which give access to the test, and promotional codes, which allow you to benefit from a reduced price.
How can I access my team's test results?
Test results are accessible on the secure online platform. As soon as your team members have completed the test, you can view their individual profiles and team results via your dashboard. These results offer valuable insights to help with team management and personal development.
N.B: Ideally, you should use workbooks.
How long are user accounts accessible?
As long as the account is active, there is no time limit. After two years of inactivity, accounts may be closed. However, the system sends a warning email beforehand.
How long are test results available?
Test results are available for five years on our secure platform. You can access them at any time to view individual DISCp4 profiles or group analyses. This permanent accessibility enables you to observe how team dynamics are evolving and adjust your management strategies accordingly.
Can I integrate DISCp4 results into my human resources management system?
Yes, we offer integration options that connect DISCp4 results to your human resources management system (HRM). This makes it easier to monitor employees' career development and make informed decisions about team management and recruitment.
Contact us to discuss your specific needs.
What kind of support do you offer for technical questions or problems?
Our team is available to help you with any technical questions or problems you may encounter. We offer (free) email support, ensuring that you receive the assistance you need to make the most of our platform.
Please note that this support relates exclusively to the use of our site and our tools. We do not offer support for reading reports or for interpreting profiles or the DISC model. However, we can put you in touch with coaches and trainers who will be able to guide you.
In addition, questions, respectful criticism and suggestions for improvement are always welcome.
Contact us to ask a technical question.
I've forgotten my password. Can you send it to me again?
Passwords are encrypted and stored in a secure database. For security reasons, it is not possible to decrypt passwords. It is therefore not possible to send them to you more than once. However, you can reset them. A new password, valid for 7 days, will then be sent to you.
What should I do if I don't receive my new password?
If you've lost your password, you can reset it. Our site will simply ask you for some information to confirm that your request is legitimate. It makes no difference if you enter it using upper or lower case letters.
SIf the information provided is correct, you should soon receive an email informing you of your new password. If nothing arrives after a few minutes, please check the spam/junk mail folder associated with your inbox.
Please note that if you don't have a user account yet, our site will display an error message every time a message is sent. This is to limit fraudulent requests. Please check that the email address you have entered is the one you used to register, as many users make typing errors, either when registering or when resetting their account.
Please note that taking a test does not automatically create your user account, as required by law, unless you have specifically chosen this option.
In some cases, even when the data you have entered is correct, the email indicating your new password may never arrive. This usually happens when your company's proxy intercepts and modifies requests. In this case, try again from home or from your smartphone.
If you still can't reset your password, please let us know via the contact form. A member of our team will carry out a manual reset.
Why didn't I receive my password after I registered?
When you register on our site, you should receive a password by email. If you haven't received it after a few minutes, please check your spam/junk mail folder.
Please also check that you entered the correct email address when registering, as many users make minor typing errors (e.g. gamil instead of gmail). Many users also confuse .fr and .com, especially for yahoo and hotmail addresses. What's more, some software programs, particularly those on smartphones, correct what they believe to be spelling mistakes, even in email addresses, without telling you. Simply go back to the registration form, which will (usually) remember your previous entry, to check.
DMany emails go undelivered because people's inboxes are full. Make sure yours isn't.
Some companies use software programs that ask your contacts to confirm their addresses, failing which messages remain undelivered. Please note that profil4.com emails are sent automatically and that we are unable to meet the requirements of this type of software.
You can also ask for help via our contact form. A team member will be glad to assist you.
If you are in doubt about anything, you can always use the forgotten password feature.
Why are your services free of charge?
Quite simply, our site is not intended to make money out of its users. However, material or financial donations are welcome.
Certain services are subject to a charge to cover ongoing costs (purchase of visuals, hosting, advertising, development, graphic designers, lawyers, etc.), but the rest of the site is free of charge.
Paid services are mainly aimed at businesses and professionals.
Why do you only give away 50 essential tests per day?
This is due to the inconsiderate behaviour of some professionals who have misused this opportunity. The essential tests are primarily intended for private individuals who want to discover their profiles. Professionals are encouraged to use the Pro test, whose features match their needs, at a competitive rate.
What if my computer crashes during a test?
If your computer or browser crashes while you are running a test, it will not be possible to pick up the test where you left off. This is not desirable for various reasons. You must start over entirely. To do so, simply click the button in the email you received again.
How do I cancel a test and recover the credit used?
To cancel a test, simply go to the results list. Our site will then display a page containing a list of all completed and uncompleted tests, sorted by type. A "Cancel" button allows you to cancel any uncompleted tests. If applicable, the associated credit is automatically reallocated to the relevant user account.
How do I assign a test to a team member or a potential hire?
From your dashboard, simply click on the menu "Test Assignment". You will then be able to assign tests one by one or in bulk by importing an Excel file.
The Test Assignment Manual illustrates how this works.
Is it possible to customize the DISCp4 test with my company colors?
Yes, our "white label" offer allows you to customize the DISCp4 test so that it matches your company’s visual identity. You can add your logo, use your brand colors and even adapt the test's language so that it echoes your corporate culture. Personalizing tests in this way helps to strengthen employee engagement and ensure their experience is consistent with your corporate values.

Groups
How can the DISCp4 test improve my team’s dynamics?
The DISCp4 test provides an in-depth understanding of individual behavioral styles within your team, facilitating more effective communication and enhanced collaboration. By identifying each person’s strengths and preferences, managers can better distribute tasks, resolve conflicts and foster a more harmonious and productive work environment.
How can group results help improve collaboration within my team?
Group results provide an overview of your team’s dynamics, revealing how different DISCp4 profiles interact with each other. By understanding the motivations and communication needs of each member, you can develop tailored strategies to improve collaboration, reduce conflict and increase team effectiveness.
How do profiles work within a group?
Each type of DISCp4 profile has a very specific vision of themself, the group, their place in the group and how they can interact.
What are workbooks used for?
Workbooks are used to organize profiles. The profile of one person can be associated with multiple workbooks.
Le workbook manual illustrates this.
How can I generate and download workbook reports?
A link is available on the workbook details page. The workbook manual illustrates this.
How many profiles can a workbook contain?
The graphs become impossible to read if over 50 profiles are included in the same workbook. It is advisable to limit the number of profiles to 30-35. In addition, the listing cannot display any more than 200 profiles.
Users can create as many workbooks as they need. It is therefore advisable to divide the profiles into specific workbooks and avoid putting them all in a single one.

Your data
How is your data used?
The information collected on our site is processed in order to compile statistics to improve our services. The recipients of this data are the service administrators.

In accordance with the "French Data Protection and Privacy Act" of 6 January 1978, amended in 2004, you have the right to access and correct personal information, which you can do by emailing contact@profil4.com or via our contact form.
If you have a legitimate reason to do so, you can also refuse to allow your personal data to be processed.
Why is the data stored in your database?
Our system needs to save user data, especially test responses, in order to establish and impart detailed profiles. Without this data, our algorithms would clearly be unable to work.
Users who wish to remain anonymous can simply provide a pseudonym instead of their real first and last names.
In accordance with the law, users can ask for their data to be deleted. If they do so, our system will no longer be able to display their detailed profile*, either to the user or the test organizer (coach, HR manager, etc.)
